Welcome
to
Milford National School,
Castletroy,
Co. Limerick
(1982-2012)
This year, 2012, Milford National School celebrates
its 30th birthday.
During this special year, our fond memories pull us back in time, our
dreams propel us to the future and, as always, our reality fixes us in
the present! We rejoice in the time we are in today and still go boldly
forward. There is an old saying that "….At 30 the field
should be well-ploughed, the planting well done and after
that… it is summer time". It doesn’t
always feel like that but we have come a long way! Maturity is the
glory of years.
From the modest beginnings of a rented room in the Salesian Hostel in 1982,
Milford School has progressed from a two-teacher school to the vibrant
and multi-faceted educational establishment we proudly celebrate in
2012 with staffing of thirty-two. Our mission has been for all children
who come to our school to be happy, to feel nurtured and fulfilled. We
endeavour to provide a holistic education, where potential and
uniqueness of mind, heart, body and spirit are fostered and celebrated.
We strive to develop the intellectual, physical, emotional, moral,
spiritual and cultural potential of every child who has been put into
our care, aiming for academic excellence while mindful of the learning
needs of all our children. In remaining steadfast to our objectives, we
hope we have fulfilled your dreams and aspirations for your child. We,
for our part, are committed to our mission of providing the best
possible nurturing environment for all entrusted to our care.
Milford School
is made of bricks and mortar. What gives it life are the people who
pass through it- the children with their individual gifts, talents, joy
and wonderfully unique personalities, and also the people who work
here. What has exemplified Milford School from its earliest days has
been the enthusiasm, energy and creativity of its teachers and
staff. From the outset each staff member who joined the team
has
added his/her own stamp and talent to Milford School. We have been so
fortunate to have such a spirit of generosity amongst our staff in the
way they share time and energy with the children, and also with their
colleagues, both within and outside school hours. I can honestly say
that it would be very hard to meet another bunch of people as dedicated
to their jobs, and as caring and interested in the children in their
care. They consistently demonstrate their creativity, patience,
tolerance and respect in encouraging their young pupils. Daily, I
delight at and am awed by the creativity and innovation of Milford
Staff. It just seems to increase each year the school is in existence.
We
would also like to express
our appreciation
of the immense contribution of the members of successive Boards of
Management and Parents’ Councils. The support, generosity and
sheer hard work of these benevolent individuals have helped us enjoy
the particularly good facilities we have here in the school.
Their legacy is evident in the many changes and improvements around the
school, the tremendous work they have done for school management and
for school maintenance and for the support and friendship they have
shown to the staff and personnel of the school at all times.
Last
but not least, they deserve particular mention for spearheading the
fund-raising efforts towards the wonderful facility we have which is
Milford Community Gym.
I
want to say a special “Thank
You”
to all parents, who have been associated with the school and who down
through the years entrusted their wonderful children to our care, we
thank you for your undying support, continuous encouragement,
constructive advice, cheerful friendliness, unbounded optimism and
patience, but above all for the belief and trust you placed in us as
teachers to deliver a quality education for your children.
Thank you
to all the
diamonds and pearls associated with this great production for your
commitment, support and sheer good humour.
With
our anniversary concert
we celebrate 30 years of wonderful memories. May you all
enjoy many more happy years of association with Milford National School.
