Aaron O’ Flaherty R.I.P.
My name is Kathryn O’ Mahony and I am the Principal of Milford National School. The whole school community is shocked and deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved pupil, Aaron O’ Flaherty. This is a terrible tragedy for Aaron’s family, our school and our community. Our sympathy and thoughts are with Aaron’s family and friends.
Aaron was in Third Class and was a pupil here in Milford N.S. since he was in First Class. He was a very bright student and a high achiever. Aaron was a real character – fun loving, mischievous and enthusiastic about everything. He loved art, swimming and writing stories. Aaron’s loss is greatly felt by the entire school community, particularly by his classmates, classroom assistant, Pearl Crosse, and teacher, Aaron Gallagher.
We have been in contact with his family and they have requested that we all understand their need for privacy at this difficult time.
Offers of support have been pouring in and are greatly appreciated.
Our school Rainbows and Critical Incident Teams have been supporting and advising teachers in their efforts to assist our students at this time.
The teachers and staff have been helping students to deal with the tragic event. A Book of Condolence and Remembrance Table have been arranged in front of our Reception. A whole school Service of Remembrance for Aaron took place on Friday at 1.45 p.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians Church. The funeral Mass will take place in Our Lady Help of Christians Church on Monday at 12 noon.
The school has been open to parents, to support them and to offer them advice and guidance.
We would ask you to respect our privacy at this time.
Thank you.
