The caterpillars were tiny when they first arrived, however, after a few weeks they grew to five times their size. Before long, the caterpillars had grown to full size and began to form chrysalis. They rested in their chrysalises for two weeks before hatching into beautiful butterflies. We fed the butterflies pieces of fruit and we made nectar by mixing water and sugar. After a day with the butterflies we released into out school yard, letting them enjoy the fine weather.
