The Doves took part in group science experiments recently. One group searched soil for minibeasts and another studied dead flies and spiders under a magnifying glass. A group made a bottle organ and then played a tune they had composed while some of their classmates studied Morse code and sent messages to one another. A kaleidoscope was made using mirrors so as to observe bouncing images. As part of their study of the movement of the human body, one group made a cardboard model of an arm so as to observe how muscles shorten and lengthen. The final group made ‘elephants ears’ and a homemade stethoscope as part of their study of sound. Each child took part in a presentation to the class, outlining their experiment and the science behind it. U.L. will not want for enthusiasts in years to come!
