Milford National School is located outside Limerick City. It is situated in the suburb of Castletroy, and can be found just behind Our Lady Help of Christians Church, on Plassey Park Road.
Set in a wonderful location, on the banks of the River Shannon, and literally on the grounds of the world –class facility which is UL, Milford National School is an ideal place to go to school.
Pupils and teachers of Milford National School enjoy the many local amenities found in the surrounding area. The University of Limerick campus lies at the back of our school, and our pupils enjoy easy access to the University’s Sports Arena including its Olympic-sized 50-metre pool, playing fields and all-weather pitches. The University campus also provides a wonderful landscape for nature walks by the Mulcair River / River Shannon where the pupils learn about local flora and fauna. Milford Hospice and Nursing Home are also located next to Milford National School. Every year a group of pupils enjoy re-creating our school’s Christmas Pageant for the residents. In the wider surrounding area around the school are many shops, eateries, banks and retail parks.
At Milford we see learning as a rich and creative experience for every child. We believe that the arts, music and sport should have a high profile in daily activities. Our aim is to allow the children to develop key life skills such as confidence, responsibility and teamwork. Above all we wish to give them a love of learning.
