Welcome to Milford National School!
It is my very great privilege to serve as Principal of Milford National School. From the modest beginnings of a rented room in the Salesian Hostel in 1982, Milford School has progressed from a two-teacher school to the vibrant and multi-faceted educational establishment we have today with staffing of thirty-two.
Our mission has been for all children who come to our school to be happy, to feel nurtured and fulfilled. We endeavour to provide a holistic education, where potential and uniqueness of mind, heart, body and spirit are fostered and celebrated. We strive to develop the intellectual, physical, emotional, moral, spiritual and cultural potential of every child who has been put into our care, aiming for academic excellence while mindful of the learning needs of all our children. We are committed to our mission of providing the best possible nurturing environment for all entrusted to our care.
Milford School is made of bricks and mortar. What gives it life are the people who pass through it- the children with their individual gifts, talents, joy and wonderfully unique personalities, and also the people who work here. Milford School has always aimed to be a place where young people are happy, where they can feel at home, where they are free to be themselves, and where effort and achievement are recognised and where whole-hearted participation is encouraged. Towards these ends we aim to fulfil our objectives and your aspirations. And while we are immensely proud of all the pupils whom we have encountered over the years, glowing in the aftermath of their achievements and performances, we must also remember the instruction and guidance which they received from their highly motivated and dedicated teachers and classroom assistants, who consistently demonstrate their creativity, patience, tolerance and respect in encouraging their young pupils.
The parents in Milford National School have been an invaluable resource over the years and we very much appreciate the immense contribution of the members of successive Boards of Management and Parents’ Councils. The support, generosity and sheer hard work of these benevolent individuals have helped us enjoy the particularly good facilities we have here in the school. Their legacy is evident in the many changes and improvements around the school, the tremendous work they have done for school management and for school maintenance and for the support and friendship they have shown to the staff and personnel of the school at all times. Last but not least, they deserve particular mention for spearheading the fund-raising efforts towards the wonderful facility we have which is Milford Community Gym.
Thank you to all parents who are associated with the school and who down through the years have entrusted their wonderful children to our care. We thank you for your undying support, continuous encouragement, constructive advice, cheerful friendliness, unbounded optimism and patience, but above all for the belief and trust you place in us as a staff to deliver a quality education for your children.
