War has Changed

War has changed.

Man after man falls to the ground.

It’s nothing like the stories I have heard.

Dawn and dusk,

I hear the loud patter of machine guns

Ripping men apart.

They say you’ll be back before the leaves fall,

But some men won’t make it back at all.

I am afraid

For myself,

My wife and infant son.

I am afraid I won’t make it back

For Fall.
