School Closure
Dear Parents,
An announcement was made this morning by the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar TD of the closure from Friday 13 March, of schools, pre-schools and further and higher education settings, for a period until 29 March 2020, to support efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19. This is in line with the advice of the National Public Health Emergency Team. School will be closed tomorrow, Friday 13th March, 2020
All pupils and students, from pre-school to third level are urged to practice social distancing, and to minimise physical contact with each other, to help avoid the spread of Covid-19. This should include minimising social contact, avoiding meeting up and keeping physical space between them. Parents and guardians are urged to support their children to maintain this approach.
At this point in time the closure is planned for two weeks, from tomorrow until 29 March. The Government, in conjunction with the public health authorities, will keep the situation under ongoing review. Any change to that date will be communicated widely. We will update our school website and circulate messages via the Aladdin Connect Portal.
Teachers have compiled a programme of suggested school work and activities appropriate for each class level. Teachers have focussed on skill development, creativity and revision of topics already taught. Mindful of these exceptional times that we are currently experiencing, we do not wish to add further stress to family life, but rather wish to help provide structure to your child’s learning while they are at home. Parents are best placed to choose and monitor their child’s engagement with the suggested activities.
This information will be shared with you tomorrow morning via the Aladdin Connect Portal and App. Children in classes 3rd to 4th will also have this information shared with them via their G Suite school account.
The Bishop of Limerick has communicated that the Confirmation has been postponed and we have no update yet in relation to First Communion. We will advise you as soon as possible in relation to these ceremonies.
Thanking you for your support and cooperation.
Go dté sibh slán,
Diarmaid
