First Communion Ceremony – August Letter from Fr. Koenraad
18th August 2020
Dear Parents/Guardians
As previously communicated to you, the date for the First Communion ceremony of your son/daughter has been set for Saturday, 5th September for Ms. Dolphin’s Class and Saturday, 12th September for Ms. Kinnerk’s Class.
Given the current restrictions of numbers in indoor spaces, available places are limited. To that end, ONLY the child’s parents may attend. Therefore, under no circumstances can there be more than three in the group (child plus parents). Please do not necessitate anyone being refused entry.
In keeping with government (and church) guidelines re social distancing, please follow the direction of the ushers as you enter and leave the church. Please arrive in good time for the 11am ceremony, as the seating procedure may take a bit of time. While not mandatory, we are strongly recommending the use of facial coverings (for adults) inside the church. People are asked not to linger in the church or in the carpark afterwards, and so there will be no opportunity for group photographs, unfortunately. I suggest family photographs be taken at home. I feel awful having to impose all these restrictions, but these are the times we live in, and the safety of all is paramount. I know I can count on your understanding and co-operation.
We will do our utmost to make of this important occasion as memorable event as possible, given the circumstances.
In the meantime I encourage those receiving their First Communion to watch the video sent by the diocese on the following link: https://www.icatholic.ie/come-to-the-table-of-the-lord-1/
Looking forward to seeing you all on the day.
Kind regards
(Fr) Koenraad Van Gucht P.P.
