Parent Memo – 8th April 2020
Dear parents,
I hope that this letter finds you well. In the past, ‘Spy Wednesday’, marked the beginning of the Easter holidays. A time when all in the school community could take a break and recharge the batteries for the excitement and busyness of the summer term. Easter this year places us in different circumstances, but perhaps the opportunity to spend precious time at home with loved ones is as important now as it ever has been.
The days and weeks ahead are filled with uncertainty. The First Holy Communion and Confirmation dates have been postponed until further notice and a school return date is unclear and will be decided by our government. Ireland appears to have adapted well to the overwhelming issues presented by the coronavirus pandemic and praise has rightfully been heaped on frontline staff. Our thoughts and prayers are with the members of our school community and with our loved ones who are at the forefront in fighting Covid-19.
We will continue to do our very best in school to provide structure to your child’s learning while they are at home. We have identified three online learning platforms that we wish to use as part of our distance learning programme for Senior Infants – 6th Class. Once parents have registered their permission on Aladdin Connect the school will release the login details for each online platform. If you have difficulty registering your permission on Aladdin please email office@milfordns.ie
A reminder also, that each class level has a link to a shared Google folder where you can view the weekly programmes and suggested activities. This link will remain the same for the duration of the extended school closure. Please feel free to access the documents at a time that best suits you. There are also a selection of helpful information posts on our school website.
We are very aware that one size does not fit all so if you feel that your child would benefit from something that we could provide, please let us know via office@milfordns.ie or via the teacher’s email. Please do not hesitate to ask us. We are here to support you and your child as best as we can.
Please click here to access an online questionnaire in relation to how our programme for distance learning is working for you. Your feedback will help us to refine our programme going forward.
Finally, thank you so much for your continued support and cooperation. Your kind words to our teachers are very much appreciated and gives us all strength through these challenging times. Ní neart go cur le chéile (there is no strength without unity).
Wishing you and your family a safe, healthy and happy Easter.
Take care everyone.
Le gach dea-ghuí,
Diarmaid
