Dear parents and guardians,

I hope that you and your family are keeping well.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the members of our school community and with our loved ones who have been directly affected by the virus and also to those who are at the forefront each day in dealing Covid-19.  

Schooling begins tomorrow through our distance learning programmes.  The Minister for Education has indicated that remote learning will continue until the end of January.  I fully appreciate that it is far from ideal but we will do our very best in school to provide structure to your child’s learning while they are at home.  The teachers have been working since the announcement to get the programmes in place and will communicate with you directly via Aladdin & Google Classroom.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank and commend all our staff for their readiness to go online on Monday.  

We have identified Google Classroom as the main online learning platform that we wish to use as part of our distance learning programme for all classes.  The class teachers set up these ‘virtual classrooms’ during Term 1.  If you haven’t yet registered your child on the platform please contact your child’s teacher via email or via the school email address (office@milfordns.ie) and we can help to set you up.   If you chose to print the programmes please be aware that the assignments and programmes of work contain interactive links which will give your child further information and instructions.  

I fully appreciate the demands that remote learning  places on your lives.  We know families are in very difficult circumstances. We ask that you do your very best to facilitate your child to watch the videos and engage in the activities the teachers set.  We are also very aware that one size does not fit all so if you feel that your child would benefit from something that we could provide, please let us know via office@milfordns.ie or via the teacher’s email.   We are here to support you and your child as best as we can. 

Support teachers will continue to implement their specific learning programmes for the groups of children and individual children they teach. This will also be done using features on Google Classroom and they will engage with parents/guardians on what suits best. Where relevant, the support teachers and the special needs assistants will work together on providing individual support.

If you need to collect your child’s books or if you would like to borrow an ICT device please just let us know via your child’s teacher email or via the school email address (office@milfordns.ie).

A reminder that the Closing Date for Junior Infant Applications 2021 is Friday, 15th January 2021.  This Admission’s process will continue during January & February. 

P/T Meetings

The Parent/Teacher Meetings scheduled for this month have been postponed until further notice.
