Parent Memo 25th March 2020
Dear parents,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support, continuous encouragement, co-operation and commitment to our school at all times. I really hope that you and your family have a safe and relaxing Easter holiday.
Easter Holiday
Classes will be dismissed for the Easter holiday tomorrow, Friday, 26th March, at the following times:
- 11:50am closing for Juniors, 1st, 3rd and 5th Classes.
- Noon closing for Seniors, 2nd, 4th & 6th Classes
School will reopen for all classes after the Easter holidays on Monday, 12th April. The times and protocols for mornings and afternoons will remain the same as they are at present.
Odd Sock Day
Milford NS Down Syndrome Awareness Day took place on Monday, 22nd March. Many children and staff wore coloured, odd socks on the day! Many thanks to Ms. Hynes and Mr. O’Brien for coordinating the learning packs in our school. Please click here to view a selection of photographs of our day.
Communion & Confirmation
The school is still awaiting word of when the sacraments will take place this year. The churches are waiting for an announcement from the government in relation to when churches can open for ceremonies. The next scheduled date for such an announcement is 5th April. Once we receive information we will let you know as soon as possible.
Congratulations & Best Wishes
Congratulations to Keith Earls and Paul O’Connell on your fantastic result last weekend. The victory was a great lift to us all. Best of luck also to our parents who are involved with the Munster Rugby Team that will play against Leinster in the Pro 14 Final this weekend in Dublin. We will be cheering from afar and wish you every success in the big games ahead.
School Garden
Mr. Gallagher and the 4th Classes have been very busy recently preparing the vegetable garden for planting. The garden has been dug, raked, fertilised and the raised beds have been repaired. It is now ready for the children to begin planting vegetable seeds and plants. Many thanks to all the pupils & staff who have helped out. Hopefully, we will have a bumper harvest this year!
Clothes for Cash Collection
Our Parents’ Council has organised a clothes-for-cash collection for Tuesday morning, April 13th, in Milford NS. If you have any unwanted clothes, bed linen, shoes (in pairs), bags or belts, please put them in a black sack and keep them for our collection date. Please leave your bags of clothing on the grass beside the SET DOWN AREA in the Church Car Park. Many thanks to Jean Flannery (Chairperson Parents’ Council) and your team for coordinating the event.
Team Limerick Clean Up!
Well done to our 4th Class pupils and staff who participated in the Team Limerick Cleanup drive today. The campaign invites individuals, local residents associations, sporting organisations, schools and businesses to get together throughout Limerick city and county to collect litter in their local areas. Many thanks to Ms. Newman for coordinating the initiative in our school.
Wishing you and your family the very best.
Le gach dea-ghuí,
Diarmaid
